Education Savings Plans

A Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) is an education savings account that is registered with the Government of Canada. 

Plans that require a proof of registration or a confirmation of studies from the University of Ottawa:

Obtaining your proof of registration or confirmation of studies from the University of Ottawa:

  • You must be registered as a full-time student for both the Fall and Winter sessions. 
  • You must include a payment of $10 for administrative fees with your request. 
  • Both you and the plan contributor(s) must sign the form.
  • The form must be received by InfoService at least one week prior to your institution’s deadline for submission of the form.
  • InfoService does not send completed forms by fax to your institution.
  • Once completed by the University of Ottawa, the form will be sent by mail directly to your institution.

Submitting your Registered Education Savings Plan form to InfoService:

  • By mail:
  1. Fill in the form for the plan.
  2. Sign the form.
  3. Include a payment of $10 (cash, credit card number and expiration date, or cheque payable to the University of Ottawa) with your form.
  4. Send your form to InfoService:

  • By fax:
  1. Fill in the form for the plan.
  2. Sign the form.
  3. Include a payment of $10 (credit card number and expiration date) with your form.
  4. Fax your form to InfoService at 613-562-5323.

  • In person:
  1. Fill in the form for the plan.
  2. Sign the form.
  3. Include a payment of $10 (cash, credit card or debit) with your form.
  4. Bring the form to InfoService (Tabaret Hall (map), 75 Laurier Avenue East).

Important:

  • You must be registered as a full-time student for both the Fall and Winter sessions.
  • The University of Ottawa will refuse forms that are not signed by the student and that do not include the $10 payment.  
  • Not all education savings plans forms need to be filled out by the University. Some forms can be sent directly to the financial institution by the plan contributor(s). Please read your plan’s requirements carefully.
